Being in a role where your skills and talents are not being used – or are not being recognised – can be deeply frustrating. And energy-sapping.
We’re all at our happiest and most productive when we’re using our strengths, when we’re doing the things that we do best and that come most naturally to us. It’s what psychologists call a ‘flow state’.
Conversely, we’re at our lowest when we’re under-using our strengths – and not fulfilling our potential. The lower we get, the more stuck we feel, and the harder it is to effect positive change on our own.
It’s a situation that can arise for a number of reasons. It might be the role you’re in, or the organisation. Or it might be because you’re not being as effective as you could be in raising your profile and getting your strengths noticed by your employers.
Whatever the reason, the good news is that I can help you. It’s all about working empathically with you to uncover and expand the potential you know you have – and guiding you to take steps to make the most of your options and opportunities.
This might mean aiming straight for a complete shift of direction or it might mean adjusting your approach so that you are in a position to fulfil your potential within your current role or organisation. It might mean making small adjustments in the short term, whilst working towards a significant career change in the longer term.
It can be daunting, but with good career coaching it needn’t be. With my help you will emerge with a clear plan for finding work that will fulfil your potential.
